Beachroad Magazine catch up with artist Sijin Gopinathan, The Dubai-based doodle/mural artist specializes in instilling life into fantasy. He is a multidisciplinary painter and photographer, working on art projects in the UAE, New Zealand, and the USA.

YOUR FIRST JOB? //
User Interface Designer and illustrator.

WHERE WERE YOU BORN? //
Kerala also known as Gods own country.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME AN ARTIST? //
I grew up adoring many mural artworks. Mural art is a part of Indian traditional art. Many of the temples in my place do have pretty beautiful mural paintings of religious deities. During those days I tried to copy those works in my own ways. I enjoyed that a lot. Later I tried to depict my own ideas into murals. Every time I try out a mural it's a throwback to my childhood days.

WHAT WERE THE CHALLENGES INVOLVED? //
To maintain the quality of my artworks and continue to deliver innovative concepts.

WHERE WOULD YOUR 5 DREAM GALLERIES BE LOCATED? //
India, Dubai, Paris, London and United States.

IF YOU WERE NOT AN ARTIST WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING? //
Maybe a Movie Director.

WHEN DID YOU REALISE THE ART WORLD WAS FOR YOU? //
Art is my Life and passion, as the famous quote “The creative adult is the child who survived” says, I’m happy
that I survived by the help of my parents since they allowed me to follow and chase my dreams and create
beautiful artworks. Now I am really working hard creating paintings and  artworks each and every night to
early morning to create my signature to the world.

YOUR FAVOURITE ARTIST? //
Raja Ravi Varma, he lived in the 18th Century.

YOUR FAVOURITE GALLERY? //
The Louvre Museum in Paris.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE A NEW ARTIST STARTING OUT? //
The creative field is always a challenge for new artists. Usually, at the beginning, we need a proper guidance
for choosing the right path. I’m so fortunate to have a guide. Here in Dubai, the situation was very different. I
saw a variety of art forms from different nationalities and honestly, the healthy competition was really high. At
that point, I realized, the regular art forms can’t be noticeable and hence decided to carve and develop a
trademark style, as a result, I am getting good opportunities now. Try to create Unique Artworks!

ART/DESIGN ASIDE, WHAT INSPIRES YOU? /
I love music that inspires me a lot.

IF YOU COULD OWN ANY PIECE OF ARTWORK WHAT WOULD IT BE? //
I have a collection of bronze sculptures, I a big fan of it, I would like to collect more.

IF YOU COULD SPEND A DAY WITH ANY ARTIST ALIVE OR DEAD WHO WOULD IT BE? //
Raja Ravi Varma again.

YOUR GREATEST LOVE? //
I love nature I am a keen observer of it, society and cultural diversities of the people who surround me.
Most of my works are a real depiction that reflects from the same. Some of my works including the “Mother Nature,
Motherhood, The Vision, Gift of Life, the Wild etc are the real-life characters. My style of artwork is a mix of
Fantasy and Realism in a positive way, and I want to spread the positive vibes through my artworks. Moreover,
the most inspiring quote from Van Gogh – “I dream my painting and I paint my dream”

YOUR GREATEST FEAR? //
To suffer from a terminal illness.

YOUR WORST TRAIT? //
Very Sentimental.

WHO WOULD PLAY YOU IN A MOVIE? //
Actually, I don't know, maybe Vijay Sethupathy (South Indian Actor).

THE CLOSEST YOU HAVE COME TO DEATH? //
Motorbike Accident.

FAVOURITE TRAVEL DESTINATION? //

YOUR MESSAGE? //
”You have two hands, one for helping yourself, the other for helping others.”

the platform to motivate emerging quality artists around the world, which includes group activities, workshops
etc.
