At 23 years of age Ed Jones joined Chip Ganassi Racing after taking IndyCar Rookie of the Year honours in the 2017 Verizon IndyCar Series. He will pilot the No. 10 NTT DATA Honda from this season and teams up with four-time IndyCar Champion, Indianapolis 500 Winner and 41-time race winner Scott Dixon.

As 2017 IndyCar Rookie of the Year Ed scored a best finish of third at the Indianapolis 500 last season after taking the Indy Lights Championship in 2016 on the strength of two wins and nine podium finishes. In 2015, he made the move across the Atlantic with Carlin Racing and into Indy Lights. Ed served notice of his title aspirations right out of the box, earning the first three race victories of the season - the first rookie driver to do so. He went on to finish third in the title chases.

NAME? // Ed Jones.

YOUR FIRST JOB? // Racing driver.

YOUR CURRENT OCCUPATION? // Indy Car driver for Chip Ganassi Racing.

WHERE DO YOU LIVE? // Dubai and Miami.

WHERE DO YOU LIKE TO EAT, SHOP, SOCIALIZE IN DUBAI? // Zheng Hi at Madinat Jumeirah is probably my favourite place to eat in Dubai and shopping wise I always go Mall of Emirates as its the only one I know the ins and outs of! If I’m out I'm usually at the kart track keeping myself sharp.

YOUR TAKE ON DUBAI AS A CITY AND ITS RAPID CHANGES? // Incredible the change over the years, especially when I was younger it was almost visual day to day how much everything was changing and growing.

WHY SHOULD SOMEONE VISIT DUBAI? // Its an unique place and has something for everyone with any kind of interest.

WHAT IS YOUR TAKE ON THE RACING SCENE IN THE UAE? // The karting scene has grown massively since i started, much more professional. It’s great to see a lot more kids starting out in the same path that i did and I hope I can give them some inspiration of what can be achieved.

IF YOU COULD SPEND A DAY WITH ANY AUTOMOTIVE LEGEND ALIVE OR DEAD WHO WOULD IT BE? // I think it would have to be Stirling Moss.

WHAT ARE THE PRO'S AND CONS OF BEING A RACER? // There a lot of pro’s of course doing what you love and living your dream, the same as with any other profession there are con’s but I feel the pro’s far outweigh them.

DO YOU STILL GO KARTING FOR FUN? // Yes I love karting, I try to go as much as I can as find it useful especially in the off season to keep me driving whilst enjoying myself and rekindling old memories.

WHAT ARE YOUR LONG TERM MOTORSPORT GOALS? // Ultimately I have two goals, win the Indy 500 and win the Indy Car championship and I’m now in the prime position to do just that. I’m sure as time goes on and I achieve those goals above i’ll find discover new ones.

WHAT ROAD CAR DO YOU OWN? ? // Acura RLX.

WHO ARE YOUR RACING HEROES? // I don’t have any racing heroes in specific but there are lot drivers I admire for certain strengths.

BEST THING ABOUT YOUR JOB? // Being in situations where you’re constantly challenging yourself to go further even when there are huge risks involved.

WHICH ELEMENT OF YOUR RACE CAREER HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE? // Finding the limit without crossing it. The differences between each driver are so minimal its all in the fine details to gain the advantage. It’s always extremely difficult especially when practice is so short to optimise everything.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO START RACING ANY CHALLENGES ALONG THE WAY? // I started with karting aged 4 when my Dad introduced me to it. He’s always had a passion for racing and shares the interest with me.

YOUR WORST TRAIT? // I’m very hard on myself when making mistakes maybe sometimes too hard. On the other hand it can also be a strength.

THE WORST TRAIT IN OTHERS THAT GETS YOU MAD? // Not wiling to learn or listen. I always from the beginning of karting listened and learned from anyones advice no matter how successful they were and I will continue to do that. It frustrates me when people are too stubborn to listen.

FAVOURITE MUSIC // Jay Z.

LAST RECORD / DOWNLOAD YOU BOUGHT? // As you were by Liam Gallagher.
