Beachroad  Magazine catch up with Dubai based French artist Anne-Laure ahead of her Pin-Up Girls show at Pro Art Gallery in Jumeirah 1. The Pin-Up Girls are collage based artworks from originals ads sourced on a roadtrip in California and brought back to life with on the streets of Dubai.

Born in France in the 80’s, ALR grew up in London where she completed a degree in fine arts at Central Saint Martins and Chelsea College of Art and Design before working in the high-end fashion industry for a few years. In 2004, she moved to Maputo (Mozambique) and then to Dubai in 2010, where she currently lives. ALR usually finds inspiration where her nomadic life leads her, and The Pin Up Project is the result of her Dubai experience so far. Over the last three years, she has been snapping away on her iPhone and building up a collection of images of her vision of this city, the Dubai that only lets itself be discovered by the seasoned resident. Beautifying the mundane has always been part of the artist's practice, so it was only a matter of time before the idea to add 1960's Pin Ups to these backdrops popped up in her mind. However, the full realization of this project only came to life last summer, when, on an off chance, ALR stumbled upon a box of vintage prints of Pin Ups while exiting a thrift store in a small Californian town.
